I'm more surprised than anyone that I'm here, wearing a straw hat and enjoying myself at the beach with everyone. This, too, is all thanks to Bertha and Alaia. Cheerful sounds fill my ears, not least among them Patty's voice as she says, "Oh! Yay! Alaia, you brought Sharon with you! Come on over here!" Hearing happy things makes me want to respond in kind...but I'm not sure I'm quite ready to be so openly energetic myself.
